Press Release

Before he retired my father was an architect. My mother worked for Chase Bank before she retired. In America it’s thought that a middle-class kid’s professional achievements should add up to at least the sum of their parents’. These works combine architectural rendering and chase bank deposit slips. As such they represent a concrete attempt to bring my otherwise diaphanous career into line with that stricture. In a few months my wife and I will find ourselves parents. I wonder, when the little baby grows up, what will it do to make ends meet? I wonder, what will I do? God knows we’ll both be working. Retirement’s false floor has long since collapsed. Our legs swing free over the other more permanent certainty.
